Inovio Product Pipeline: VGX 150: Melanoma

Product & Indication
This experimental plasmid-based therapy is designed to target melanoma cells. The gene is being delivered using Inovio's MedPulser® DNA Delivery System. The gene is delivered into tumor tissue with the assistance of electroporation with the goal of achieving expression of the HIV vpr gene which can effectively kill the tumor cells.

Market Potential
One of the deadliest cancers, melanoma has an annual incidence of 60,000 in North America alone. An analysis of current treatments for melanoma suggests that potential pricing for this gene ablation therapy could be approximately $10,000, suggesting a potential market size in North America of US$0.6 billion.
