Description

This position will be responsible for planning and executing research and development projects and collaborations independently and as part of a project team. The candidate will be developing in vivo gene transfer protocols for DNA-based prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines. A strong background in immunology is essential and a working knowledge of molecular biology and cell biology is desirable. Experience with statistical data analysis is a plus, as is experience in the DNA delivery/ DNA vaccine fields.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and execute research and development projects

• Maintain a broad knowledge of and high degree of competence in the field of gene therapy and genetic vaccines by staying abreast of state-of-the-art techniques and theories.

• Assist in projects requiring collaborations with other research personnel within Inovio as well as collaborations with external partners.

• Organize, write and maintain standard research documentation and compile project specific reports.

• Participate and present in research-related conferences.

• Publish scientifically relevant data in peer-reviewed journals.

• Investigate and make recommendation on new areas for research and development.

• Independently and/or collaboratively conceive, initiate, and gain acceptance for new projects, research approaches and/or scientific direction.

• Participate in development of patent applications, where applicable.

Requirements

Minimum Education & Previous Experience Required

• PhD in immunology, or closely related field, with 0-2+ years post-doctoral or industry experience in a research and/or development environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Requires hands-on experience in immunology, basic molecular biology and biochemical laboratory techniques (i.e. DNA manipulation, immunological assays, cell culture and new technology development; experience with animal work is a plus).

• Technical proficiency, effective problem solving and critical thinking skills required.

• Ability to consistently meet deadlines.

• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
